How To Achieve “Top Of Mind Awareness”

When you think of a search engine, fast food chain or a sports shoe brand what pops into your head? That’s top of mind awareness in a nutshell.

Big companies do this by using flashy colors and silly dances in their advertising and by completely demolishing your eyeballs with a constant flow of ads. (By the way, I wrote an article on how this style of advertising will bleed money out of you as a small business — I think you’d like it)

Today, I will show you how to do this locally as a small business and how to do it effectively so you can get the most out of your advertising dollar. Let’s get into it.

How To Become The Leader In Your Field

Ok, this goes without saying but if aren’t already using ad platforms like Meta and Google, then you are losing out on a tooooon of cash.

How can people buy from you If they haven’t heard of you?

Word of mouth and social media posts only get you so far. And they’re a drop in the bucket compared to good advertising.

Simply put, if you’re not putting yourself in front of your potential customer, you’ll never gain enough traction to become the go-to business locally.

But on the other hand — let’s say you’re already advertising. If you aren’t striking hard at the customer’s wants, effectively showing that you are the guy for the job your results will fall flat.

Learning to write good ads is a full-time job in of itself. If you’d like to know what we can do to help, click here. If not, that’s okay — over here, we show you how to do it yourself.

Shotgun Marketing

How are you getting your customers now? Posters, billboards, Google, advertising, cold calls?

If your answer isn’t ALL, then you’re wrong. You’ve got to hit your prospects from every possible angle. The more you’re seen the more you’re remembered, the more you’re remembered the more people buy from you.

During a recent meetup from other business owners in our private group a question that often popped up was “What got you off the ground, what finally got the ball rolling for you?”

Most of the time the answer goes “Well, I just started doing things. Calls, posters, advertising, more calls. Then I did more of everything”

Make It Easy To Buy From You

Ever heard of a (CTA) A Call To Action? This alone supercharges your advertisements. If you don’t give customers something to do, chances are — they’ll choose the worst thing imaginable…

Nothing.

Keep your CTAs simple:

“Click here to fill out a quick form”

“Click here to get our free guide”

“Click here to book a consultation”

I’d personally avoid CTAs like “Click here to book a 30 minute consultation” nobody wants to get onto a call with a stranger for 30 minutes, that’s too steep an ask.

Whatever you choose, just make it easy for them to click. Make it clear and concise. Make sure they know EXACTLY what they’re getting by going through with your CTA.

A bonus product, a free guide, or some other type of free value are all solid options.

By incorporating these into your business, you’ll eventually be the go-to guy in your field.

The best part? You don’t even actually have to be the most skilled person, most small business don’t put themselves out there as much as they should. Which gives you all the advantages.

Happy hunting,
